How to Play TrapDoor Chess

Basic chess rules: Each player starts with 16 pieces. Pawns move forward one square (two squares on their first move) and capture diagonally. Knights move in an L‑shape. Bishops move diagonally. Rooks move horizontally or vertically. The queen moves like a rook and a bishop combined. The king moves one square in any direction.

Castling: The king may move two squares toward a rook if neither has moved, the squares between are empty, and the king does not pass through or end up in check. The rook jumps to the square next to the king.

En passant: When a pawn moves two squares from its starting rank and lands beside an opposing pawn, that pawn may capture it as if it had moved only one square. This capture must be made immediately on the next move.

Pawn promotion: When a pawn reaches the opposite end of the board, it promotes to a queen in this implementation.

Trapdoor mechanics: Every 60 seconds (or the interval you select), a random square becomes a trapdoor. Any non‑king piece on that square falls through and disappears. The trapdoor closes after the event.
